The top-seeded LaSerna Lancers (21-4-3) ended the Temescal Canyon Titans’ girls soccer team playoff hopes in the CIF-SS Division 5 Quarterfinals, 2-0. This is the Lancers’ third consecutive trip to the semis.

The Titans had four shots on goal compared to the Lancers’ 25.

Temescal Canyon had beaten Aquinas (3-2) in the wildcard round, Santa Ynez (4-0), and South Pasadena (1-0) to advance.

Seniors Gabby Baca and Hannah Bojorquez, and sophomore Marissa Everett each scored a goal against Aquinas; Krissy Baca and Gabby Baca are credited with assists. Everett scored two goals against Santa Ynez and Baca and Victoria Sanchez added one each; Gabby Baca also had two assists (both to Everett); Everett returned the favor with an assist to Baca. Junior goalkeeper Maegan Ariaz had four saves. In the game against South Pasadena, Everett scored Temescal Canyon’s lone goal on a penalty kick. Ariaz had 11 saves.

Last year, Coach Jessica Nelson’s team lost in the first round to Cajon, 7-2, after winning their wild card game against Pioneer, 4-1.
