An emotional Elijah Rios, a senior at Murrieta Mesa High School, received a $500 college scholarship for his essay of individual initiative pertaining to his battle with cancer and his goals for the future. Principal of St. Jeanne De Lestonnac School, Kristen Mora, receives the Mayorís Trophy for the second time for students who submitted the most essays modeled around the contest judging criteria.
