MURRIETA – On Thursday, March 7, the nonprofit, nonpublic education and treatment facility Oak Grove Center for Education, Treatment & The Arts opened their doors to their brand new school gymnasium.

The gym/multipurpose room is a 120’ by 150’ multipurpose building that includes a CIF regulation basketball court, an occupational therapy room, an arts and music room, a weight room and a recreation room.

Tammy Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Oak Grove Center, explains the benefits the new gym will bring to all of Oak Grove’s programs, "We now have the ability to host sporting events, special performances as well as fundraisers, which we could do before but had to be creative with space. Given we have 160 students Advertisement

on campus during school, there is a tremendous benefit to having an indoor play space for expanded programming as well as relief from extreme temperatures."

Fundraising for the new gym began in December 2009. Since then, almost $1 million has been donated through in-kind and cash donations, discounts, and gifts from local business owners and individuals. An additional $500,000 was raised through grants applied by and approved for Oak Grove Center.

Wilson adds, "There is absolutely no way that we would have been able to build this gym without the support of so many in the community."

The school is located 24275 Jefferson Avenue in Murrieta. More information is available at
