The weather was no obstacle for residents and car enthusiasts alike as thousands of spectators lined the streets of Old Town Temecula to take in the sights and sounds during the 2013 Annual Rod Run car show.

From hot rods to vintage classics, participants displayed their vehicles for all to enjoy during the popular event that brings in various individuals from both far and wide each year. Joel and Janice Rallo of Huntington Beach were just one of the many out-of-town participants who registered to display their 1955 Ford Customline at the event.

While rain fell on Friday, March 8, and early Saturday morning, March 9, the skies cleared as the day progressed and car aficionados marveled at the chrome classics, snapped photographs, shopped at local businesses, and enjoyed performances by local group Wine Brew.

One Wildomar resident had an added surprise while attending the event Advertisement

when she was reunited with her 1953 Willy’s Jeep.

Vikki Simon had believed her beloved jeep was never to be seen again when it was sold by her uncle, but her long-time boyfriend Tom Pearson secretly bought the car and put in time, money, and effort to have it restored to its original condition.

Though it took months of repairs and stealth to avoid being caught by Simon, Pearson was finally able to unveil his project at the Rod Run when he parked it along Front Street for her to find. Her joy was incomparable.

The 2013 Rod Run held something special for everyone, be it a long lost car, the sounds of revving engines, or memories made with loved ones. An event catered to the car enthusiast, it was also a place for people to bond, enjoy, and take a few drives back through time.
