Sheriff's deputies began operating the checkpoint Saturday night at Ynez and Tower Plaza North roads and ended it early today, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. John Magnan said. Nine hundred vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and 752 of them were screened. The drivers of 37 vehicles were directed to another location at the checkpoint where deputies conducted 10 field sobriety tests, Magnan said.
