Police officers started operating the checkpoint Saturday night at Jefferson Avenue and Guava Street. The checkpoint ended early today, the Murrieta Police Department reported. A total of 420 vehicles passed through the checkpoint but 400 of them were screened. Sixteen drivers were directed to a secondary location at the checkpoint where officers checked on them, according to the department. One person was cited for driving with a suspended license.
