Man attempts to sexually assault woman in San Jacinto parking lot, woman fights back

SAN JACINTO - A 21-year-old transient suspected of trying to sexually assault a woman at a San Jacinto parking lot was punched out by a second woman he allegedly to tried rape, a sergeant said today.

Joshua Eugene Hernandez was arrested and booked on suspicion of two counts of attempted rape and one count of making terrorist threats, according to jail records that showed he was jailed in lieu of $55,000 bail.

report that a sexual assault victim was in her car there, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Rose McKinney.

Hernandez allegedly tried to rape the woman but stopped when the woman's male friend showed up, she said. The sexual assault suspect claimed to have a gun, McKinney said.

Hernandez ran toward a State Street business where he allegedly tried to sexually assault another woman, who punched Hernandez in the face with a closed fist, knocking him out long enough for deputies to arrive and arrest him, McKinney said.
