On Tuesday, April 23, a Shakespearian showcase will be held at the Old Town Temecula Theater. This event is sponsored by Shakespeare in the Vines and co-sponsored by the Temecula Theater Foundation.

At the showcase, 12 high school students from Chaparral, Linfield, Vista Murrieta, River Springs, and charter high schools, as well as students in home school/independent study, will perform various Shakespearian sonnets and monologues.

These students will analyze Shakespeare’s words as they gain close reading and critical thinking skills. This competition will go by the standards of NCTE’s for English Language Arts.

The winners will receive a trophy and cash prizes. The contestant who receives first will receive $300; second will receive $250; and third will receive $50.
