Softball team wins invitational, remain champs

The So Cal Athletics 12U Girls Fastpitch softball team won another championship this past weekend, April 13-14. They competed in the 14U division of the Triple Crown Sports Big League Dreams Invitational and went 6-0-1, beating So Cal Pride in the Championship game 11-0.

The Athletics scored 42 runs and only allowed four all weekend, which included shutouts in their four final games on Sunday.

The So Cal Athletics (TO) 12U is among the elite teams in Southern California, ranked #1 most of the year. This team has received an invitation to play in the Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) National Tournament in Huntington Beach in late July. Their goal is to become the 2013 National Champions in the 12U division. This team is based out of Temecula/Murrieta and has girls that live in Riverside County and San Diego County.

In the seven tournaments this season, the So Cal Athletics 12U team has won four championships, including three titles playing up a division in the 14U division. They are currently 46-4-1 in tournament play.

The team is managed by Brian Tidd and Fernando Ornelas and their head coaches are David Mercado and Greg Testa.
