Saturday, May 18 Recap

Local racer Brian Deegan was in Barcelona, Spain competing in the Rally X event at the X Games; sub-in driver Todd LeDuc took over racing duties for Round Five in the Pro2 Unlimited division of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, bringing the #38 Rockstar Energy Drink/Makita Power Tools Ford truck across the finish line first in the Main Race on Saturday and keeping Deegan the leader in the points race.

LeDuc, started on the pole, got out front early and opened up a huge gap on the competition within the first few laps. Leduc held off Rob MacCachrenís final inside pass attempt at the end to lead wire to wire.

In the Pro Lite division, Sun City local Bradley Morris retired early due to mechanical problems, and Anaheim resident Casey Currie, the current points leader, ended up mid-pack. Andrew Caddell, driving for Brian Deegan, ended up in second.

Sunday, May 19 Recap

In Sundayís Pro2 Unlimited division race, suspension and steering problems hampered Deeganís truck on the vehicle-punishing course. The #38 truck was driven again by Todd LeDuc; the mechanical difficulties allowing other drivers to pick him off as he dropped from third place and eventually withdrew from the race. A fire in the #9 truck called for a red flag with ten laps to go; emergency crews were able to extricate driver Mike Porter and put out the blaze.

MacCachren and Carl Renezeder battled for ten laps with Renezeder winning.

The Pro Lite division race start was plagued with yellow flags for three laps. Currie dropped out of the top ten with mechanical problems. Bradley Morris (#24 K & N) gave the locals some racing pride as he finished third.

Deeganís 12-year-old daughter, Hailie, raced both days in Modified Karts, scoring 30 points. She is tenth overall in point standings for the season. The self-proclaimed "Dirt Princess" aspires to follow in her fatherís racing steps and wants to race in Nascar someday.
