The Temecula Valley area has been home to a long list of successful professional athletes from the world of sports, like golf, bicycling, and of course, motorsports. But there is a local businessman that is in a league of his own when it comes to international sports car racing.

Born in New York City, raised in Stamford, Connecticut, Boris Said was destined to "go fast" from day one. His father, Bob Said, was a Formula One racecar driver and U.S. Olympic bobsled driver in 1968 in Grenoble, France, and 1972 in Sapporo, Japan.

Boris Said’s early interest was in motorcycle racing, however, in 1985, while attending the Detroit Grand Prix as a spectator, he met SCCA Champion Bob Sharp. It wasn’t long after Boris was entrenched in the sport of road racing, and quickly became known for being both fast and consistent.

His sports car racing achievements include winning the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Rolex Sport Car Series GT Class Champion, and Boris became the first American to win the challenging 24 Hours of Nurburgring in Germany driving a BMW Motorsports-entered BMW M3 GTR.

In 1998 the Boris Said Racing Fan Club appeared. In 2002, due to Boris’ curly hair, his loyal entourage began wearing similar looking hairstyles, with wigs that resemble Boris’ hair. This group of enthusiasts is affectionately known as "Said heads" and has become one of the racing world’s most entertaining fans.

he is not racing, he is usually at his car dealership, Boris Said’s BMW of Murrieta. This BMW franchise is the first new dealership awarded by BMW in over a decade. Boris Said and Rick Hendrick (Hendrick Motorsports & Hendrick Automotive Group fame) are co-owners of this welcomed new BMW Dealership to the area.

To meet Boris in person, it takes a little luck, but weekday mornings are the best time to stop by, maybe get his autograph or a photo with him, but there are no guarantees, because Boris moves fast, very fast.

Boris Said is a pure racecar driver, and after decades of competing, he still has "the need for speed." If you’d like to follow his continuing racing endeavors, Boris is live on television almost every weekend, in the Grand-Am Sports Car Series where he races for Whelen or in select NASCAR events racing for Hendricks Cars.
