SAN JACINTO – Construction on the Gilman Springs Rd. safety project was completed ahead of schedule, Riverside County transportation officials said on Aug. 5.

The nearly $1.7 million project includes new curbs, gutters, drainage improvements, signs, striping, guard rails and shoulder improvements, as well as repaving.

The 2.2 mile stretch of road from State Route 79 to Soboba Road in the San Jacinto area was re-opened for Monday morning’s commute, said Patricia Romo, the county’s assistant director of transportation.

"I’m pleased we finished this phase under budget and Advertisement

nearly a week ahead of schedule," Romo said. "We completed the much needed improvements while trying to cause the least amount of impact for local residents and businesses, well before the school year begins at nearby Mt. San Jacinto College."

Romo also thanked residents and motorists for their cooperation.

This is the first of five phases to improve safety along Gilman Springs Rd. from Highway 60 near Moreno Valley to Soboba Rd. in the San Jacinto area.
