Representatives from the City of Temecula, Temecula Chamber of Commerce, Senator Joel Anderson’s office and the public were on-hand for Tuesday’s, Aug. 20, ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new John Hine Subaru of Temecula.

"It has been over a year since we first started planning this project," said Temecula Mazda Subaru VP/GM Bill Brumbaugh, "but it only took four months to construct. It is amazing to bring this brand to this area!"

As John Hine cut the ribbon, he reminisced about a time when he attended a ribbon-cutting at his father’s Pontiac dealership in 1965.

"John DeLorean was the GM of Pontiac at the time," said Hine. "Opening a new dealership doesn’t happen that often; this is a special event."

A representative from Senator Anderson’s office presented a certificate to Hine and Brumbaugh.

"This is exciting for Temecula to have another dealership," said Aaron Adams, city manager. "It brings jobs and new revenue to the area."

Hine welcomed the crowd to the new dealership.

"We had customers waiting to buy cars the first day as we were driving down from San Bernardino with our DMV license to sell them. We have only been open ten days and have already sold 26 new cars," said Hine.

They have also sold 10 certified pre-owned vehicles in that time.

"Symmetrical all-wheel drive put Subaru on the map in certain areas of the country like Colorado, the Northeast, and the Pacific Northwest," said Hine, "but fuel economy has given us parity with two wheel drives. All-wheel drive, fuel economy, and safety – most models have six airbags – now make Subaru an attractive option. If you haven’t gotten behind the wheel of a Subaru, you need to try it!"

Hine and Brumbaugh opened up the Mazda dealership at this location seven years ago.

"This is a great one-two offering in one location," says Brumbaugh.

The Mazda features a more sporty-oriented line-up, while the all-wheel drive Subaru appeals to the adventurous as well as pet owners. The two-wheel drive BRX sports car is the exception to the all-wheel drive line-up that includes sedans (Impreza, WRX, and Legacy) as well as SUVs (Forester, Crosstrek, Outback and Tribeca). In all there are 37 different model/trim combinations.

"The first new Subaru sold was a WRX STI to a customer in wine country," said Brumbaugh. "We are very community-involved and are looking forward to serving the many families in this area!"
