Repairing your old appliance is recommended because you are already familiar with the appliance, and manufacturers lead people to believe that appliances have shorter life than expected, according to the companyís website.
New appliances are loaded with electronics, said Chuck Wagner, a partner in the business.
"There are a couple brands out there you canít even find anybody to work on," he said. "And, unfortunately, thatís the ones that stores are pushing on right now."
If a repair cost matches half of what a new appliance would be, he recommends considering the repair.
He also believes that older appliances were made better than they are today, because itís more geared towards energy efficiency.
The company also provides parts for most major brand appliances.
Wagner said they have connections with the factories, as well as two of the biggest vendors in the United States.
Preferred Appliance Parts primarily deals with major appliances, such as washers and dryers, which are the most needed repairs that people come in with. They also deal with refrigerators, garbage disposals, and dishwashers
Guessing right with what the problem is the first time with an appliance is something that helps to make Preferred Appliance Parts successful.
"Theyíre going to be back the next time," he said. "Itís a hard thing to do, but we can always try to help them if we can."
Wagner has been known to obtain someparts the day after they are ordered. Conversely, some companies make their customers wait seven to 10 days for parts, he said.
Going to Preferred Appliance Parts helps people eliminate having to deal with the internet or somebody out of state.

Preferred Appliance Parts, it would be their problem, not the
Ordering parts from the company also enables customers to avoid some freight, shipping and handling costs that can drive up their costs.
Wagner has been in the business since 1967. He spent 15 years in the appliance parts end of it; he tried other things and eventually came back to it.
Homeowners have often leaned on the advice of Wagner when attempting to repair an appliance on their own.
"If I think someone is in over their head, Iíll let them know," he said.
Wagner also has a referral list of four appliance repairman whom he thinks are trustworthy and fair.
The decision about whether to repair or purchase is a big decision and he understands that.
Wagner urges individuals to do their homework if they need to buy a new major appliance.
"Make sure the machine you buy will have availability for those repair parts," he said.
