Broncos Lose Close One to Eagles 74-69


Vista Murrieta Now 1-1 in Riverside Kiwanis Tourney

The Vista Murrieta Broncos opened the Riverside Kiwanis Tourney with an easy 68-42 win over San Jacinto, but lost a close second round game to Valley View High School, 74-69.

Despite shooting 62.5% from the floor, the Broncos ended up short on the scoreboard. The game was tied three times with five lead changes. It was a three-point ball game when the Eaglesí Will Mitchell rebounded a Broncosí missed free throw with eight seconds left. Mike Herrera subsequently sank two free throws for a two-score lead. Mitchell ended the night with eleven rebounds, 16 points and four steals. Herrera had 20 points, including four-of-six attempts from three-point range. Devin Fleming led all scorers with 24 points.

Spencer Benson led the Broncos with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-4 from the arc. He also had five rebounds, five steals, and three blocks. Jacob Perry hit 8-of-12 shots for 16 points. Austin Beech contributed ten points (5/7), six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Cameron Eakins had eleven points.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again at Vista Murrieta a week from this matchup, December 18th.
