The Wolfpack Girls Water Polo team is off to an impressive 5-0 start and has already won one tournament championship this season. Great Oak beat Chaparral 14-7 in the title match at the 17th Annual Redlands Winter Girls Water Polo Classic over the weekend.

The Wolfpack was led by Raegan Castillo who scored six goals with two assists and a steal. She was named the Redlands Winter Classic Tournament MVP. Great Oak’s Abby Buxbaum also scored three goals and had three steals while teammate Tara Prentice scored twice and had five assists while amassing nine steals.

"Getting off to a 5-0 start is something we hoped for when we looked at the schedule to start the season," said Great Oak Head Coach Bill Barham. "The coaching staff was confident we could win the Redlands tournament when we received the brackets and saw our seeding. Beating Temescal Canyon in our season opener and Chaparral in the championship game go a long way in building the confidence of our young team. Division II is a beast of a division and any time you can start 5-0 is a good thing."

Chaparral placed second in the tournament. Third place went to La Quinta, Arlington was fourth and fifth place went to Moorpark.

The Wolfpack will be back in the water Thursday in La Jolla as they take on the Vikings in a non league game.
