Murrieta Mesa routed Coachella Valley 50-23 in the semi-final match and the Rams advanced to the tournament Championship against league rival Temecula Valley.

Murrieta Mesa would dominate the game 39-23 and captured First Place in the 2013 Bette Smith Classic. Octavia Williams and Jessica Brogdon were named to the All-Tournament Team and Mikayla Greens was selected as the Tournamentís Most Valuable Player.

The Rams started quickly and got off to a 22-13 at the half and never looked back. They out-scored the Golden Bears 17-10 the next two quarters to cruise to the 39-23 victory. Mikayla Greens led the Rams with 11 points. Octavia Williams and Jessica Brogdon would each score eight points against Temecula Valley.

Kiersta Tanner scored five, while Bryana Hairston, Katie Chow and Allison Heine had a basket each.

"I am incredibly thankful for this group of girls," said first year head coach Megan Barbour. "They have worked harder this year than in any year past. We are only going to get better as we learn to trust each other and to play as one unit."

The Rams defeated Hemet in the opening game of the tournament 47-31. They then beat Banning 48-43 and Coachella Valley 50-23 before dominating the Golden Bears in the Championship round.

"Although we returned three starters from last year's squad, we are still very young with only two seniors on the team," said Barbour. "We are looking to build on last year's successes and to improve with each and every practice or game."

The Rams will be participating in the Riverside Poly Varsity Classic starting on December 26th. Temecula Valley will compete in the Tahquitz Invitational Tournament starting on the 27th.
