The Murrieta Mesa Rams improved to 10-6 as they easily defeated the Fallbrook Lady Warriors in their non-league game prior to the start of Southwestern League action. This was the Rams’ third straight win and the team is looking to improve on last year’s record (13-14).

The first four minutes of the game were back and forth and found the Rams tied at 8 with the Warriors when Mesa went on an 8-0 run to close out the quarter.. The Rams led 16-8 and never looked back.

Ram standout Mikayla Greens picked up her second foul early and sat the entire second quarter. Murrieta Mesa had players come off the bench to make key plays as the Rams shut down Fallbrook and held them to just 3 points in the second quarter.

"Fallbrook is a great team, so to go into their house and play the way we did, I was very encouraged," said Rams head coach Megan Barbour. "Our girls came out with a lot of intensity on defense and that's what gets us going; it was a total team effort. This is a big win for us as we head into league next week."

The Rams were led by junior center Mikayla Greens who scored 15 points and Kiersta Tanner who was 6-for-10 from the field with 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Jessica Brogdon had 11 rebounds and scored seven points for the Rams.

Amanda Cunningham scored 12 points for Fallbrook. Haley Drew scored eight and Haley Tucker six points for the Warriors who are now 11-5 on the season.

The Rams will face Chaparral Tuesday as they begin Southwestern League play. The Pumas are an impressive 13-2 and are coming off a convincing 59-18 win against Yucaipa.
