As the game began the Golden Bears looked like a victory was in reach. Temecula Valley kept it close in the first period as Vista Murrieta took a 13-9 lead at the end of the first period. The Broncos calmed down and exploded as they proceeded to dominate the game from the second period. Vista Murrieta outscored the Golden Bears 24-8 in the period to take a commanding 27-17 lead at the half.

Sophomore forward Brittney Reed led the Bronco attack against Temecula Valley with 16 points. Fellow sophomores Jaeyln Brown and Nasrin Ulel ended up with 11 points and eight points, respectively. Freshman Keilanei Cooper scored all six of her points in the final period. Senior Tatiana Navaro scored eight while fellow team captain and play maker Yuendie Guridi scored four points for the Broncos.

Temecula Valley had three players with seven points apiece. They were juniors Natalie Macias and Savannah McClaughlin and sophomore Tehya Burroughs. Sophomore Reanna Miyahira and freshman Danielle Weinman each scored three points for the Golden Bears.

"That is a very good and balanced team and we played well with them for the first quarter," said TVHS Coach Joe Weinmann. "Their press and athleticism got to us in the second quarter."

Indeed. The Broncos' physical full court press defense finally wore out the Golden Bears as the second half continued to be all Vista Murrieta. The Broncos overwhelmed Temecula Valley 35-10 in the half with coach Chris Jones playing his entire bench in the victory.

The Southwestern League defending Champions will play a very tough and talented Wolfpack team at Great Oak Thursday. The Wolfpack is coming off a 67-26 thrashing of the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks.

Temecula Valley will travel to take on the Pumas. Chaparral defeated Murrieta Mesa 57-30 in their league opener.
