The Wolfpack came into town without their usual swagger and it was business as usual as Great Oak proceeded to outscore the Nighthawks in every period of Tuesday night’s game. Murrieta Valley kept it close all night but the decisive second period proved too much for the Nighthawks to bounce back from.

Trailing 13-10 after the first period, Murrieta Valley could not keep pace with the Wolfpack. Great Oak outscored the Nighthawks 11-6 to take a commanding 24-16 lead as the half came to an end. The Wolfpack would outscore Murrieta Valley 31-28 in the second half to win their first league game and avenge their earlier loss to MVHS in the Championship match of this year’s Nighthawk Classic. Final Score: Wolfpack 55, Nighthawks 44.

Although it was a home game for Murrieta Valley it was hard to tell who had home court advantage. The Wolfpack fans definitely made more noise than the home team crowd and their spirit and support electrified and motivated the visitors.

Great Oak was led by junior Latrelle Franklin who scored 13 against the Nighthawks. Fellow junior Torin Webb also scored 10 points for the Wolfpack.

Murrieta Valley’s Kevin Padlo led all scorers with 19 points in the game. Jordan Williams added 10 more for the Nighthawks.

The Wolfpack will face Vista Murrieta tonight at 7pm. The game will be at home and starts at 7pm. The girl’s varsity basketball game will precede the boys game at 5:15pm.

Murrieta Valley will travel cross town to take on the surging Murrieta Mesa Rams. The Rams are coming off a convincing 71-65 victory over Chaparral and looking to beat the Nighthawks for the first time in the schools history. Game time is at 7pm.
