Suspect sought after home invasion robbery in Menifee

MENIFEE - On Monday, January 27, 2014, at 8:36 PM, officers from the Menifee Police Department responded to a home invasion robbery in the 27000 block of Covington Way, in the City of Menifee.

Officers arrived in minutes and began their investigation. Officers determined the victim was in bed when unknown intruders forced entry into the victim’s home. The victim was confronted by the suspects and verbally threatened. The victim was not harmed, and the suspects fled prior to the officers’ arrival.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and were unable to locate the suspects. The Menifee Police Department would like to remind citizens to remain alert of suspicious people and activity in their neighborhoods. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the Menifee Police Department at 951-776-1099.

Not a "home invasion" robbery... just a break in. Flashy words don't make a story more interesting.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This is a release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. "Home invasion robbery" is the correct terminology for this incident, according to officials.
