The Nighthawk hit the Chaparral pool Tuesday afternoon and it was business as usual for Murrieta Valley. After a sluggish start in the first period where the Nighthawks scored only a single goal, Murrieta Valley unleashed an offensive blast that left the Pumas breathless by halftime.

Kayla Fedler and Maddie Sanchez both scored three goals in the second period to give the Nighthawks a 11-1 lead. The Nighthawks would score five goals in the third and another five in the fourth. Abi Aure scored all three of her goals in the final period.

Paige Virgil who had been nursing an injury returned to the line up and made her presence known to the Pumas right from the beginning of the contest. Virgil would score the first goal of the game and ended with a total of five. Fedler and Sanchez scored four, and Auer three. Christina Reyes also scored three goals for Murrieta Valley and Kelly Geurts and Gabbi Ritter one apiece.

Chaparral’s Baily Sprague scored both goals for the Pumas against a tough MV defense and goal keepers Abigail Govei and Morgan Jones.

The Nighthawks will play Temecula Valley today at 4pm. The Pumas will host Vista Murrieta.
