#13 Great Oak Wins 70-50 over Highland

The Great Oak Wolfpack (19-8, 7-3) opened the game with an 18-6 first quarter over the Highland Bulldogs (12-2, Golden League Champions). Highlands’ 6’9" center Devin Burleson accounted for all his team’s opening points. He ended the night with twenty points.

Highland made up a point with a 13-12 second quarter and a 20-20 third quarter. Latrelle Franklin hit three three-pointers in the third period, including a buzzer-beating ¾-court shot. Jeremy Smith also hit a three, one of his three on the night.

Great Oak closed out the game with a 20-11 final period with eight points from Jacob Tryon, who scored 14 of his twenty in the second half. Frankline ended with 21, including five three’s.

There were two notable upsets in the Division 1AA bracket. Los Osos (#3 in Baseline League) knocked off #14 Walnut 75-73. Walnut was undefeated (12-0) in Hacienda League play and 22-5 overall. In the same quadrant of the bracket, unranked Trabuco Hills (17-10) toppled #6 Corona (20-6, Big VIII #2), despite Ethan Alvano’s 29-pt game.

The Wolfpack will face #4 Damien (22-6, Sierra #2) who beat Diamond Bar 71-33.
