Issue 09, Volume 18.

A woman passenger died after a full-sized pickup truck plowed into a light pole during a lane change in Riverside, but the driver and a child passenger escaped injury.

Police received a dispatch at 9:43 a.m. Saturday about the crash at California Avenue and Tyler Street, where they found a mangled 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver apparently lost control, police said, but the crash happened before rain moved into Riverside.

The 36-year-old woman sitting beside the driver was taken to Riverside Community Hospital and later died, Riverside police Lt. Russ Shubert said. Her name was not made public pending as authorities sought to reach her family

members.

The driver and the child, who sat in the back of the cab, escaped injury, Shubert said.

The investigation into the fatal crash was under way, Riverside police Lt. Chad Milby said.
