It was a tough day for local Valley teams as three basketball teams and two soccer teams were eliminated from the 2014 CIF Southern Section-Ford Playoffs, presented by Farmers.

BOYS BASKETBALL:

Division1A:

-- #8 Perris lost to Riverside King, 63-70. King had a 9-0 run to win. EJ Johnson (P) had 20 points. Lott (K) had 31; Mitchell (K) had 17.

-- #3 Temecula Valley lost to Villa Park, 56-57. Last-minute free throws by Kevin Olsen won the game. For TV: Riley Schaefer (13), Ryan Schaefer (12), Justin Simon (12), Dean Mitchell (10).

GIRLS BASKETBALL:

Division 1AA:

-- #4 Great Oak lost to #1 Bonita, 49-56. Kandyce Smith (B) had three three's and 15 of her 22 pts in the second half. Abby Welch (GO) had 15.

BOYS SOCCER:

Division 3:

-- Chaparral lost to Century, 1-3.Century scored two second-half goals. Rene Aguayo scored for the Pumas.

Division 4:

-- Lakeside lost to Cathedral (LA), 1-4. Ricky Ruiz scored for the Lancers.

The only team left in CIF playoffs is the Lakeside Lancers Girls Basketball Team who play in the Division 3AA Finals against Santa Barbara. The game is 2 pm Saturday, March 8th at the Felix Events Center at Azusa Pacific University.
