Gasoline prices still on the rise; highest amount noted since late last year

RIVERSIDE - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose to its highest amount since Sept. 26 today, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $3.942.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has risen 18 consecutive days and 31 of the past 32, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.2 cents more than one week ago and 32.2 cents Advertisement

higher than one month ago, but 30.7 cents less than one year ago.

The average price has risen 34.3 cents over the past 32 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

"Local motorists are seeing more stations posting prices above $4 a gallon, but right now at least, they don't have to shop around too far to find pump prices lower than that," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
