In Monday's non-league game, the host Chaparral Pumas baseball team scored a tight 9-5 victory over the Granite Hills Cougars.

Juwan Maxwell (Jr) went 3-4 and Senior Justin Toerner knocked in 3 RBI's on a monster HR that he hit in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Junior Marc Sauceda got the win for chaparral. Sauceda pitched 4 shutout innings before giving up a 3 run HR himself in the 5th inning to Daniel Hawkins (Jr), the cougars first baseman.

The Pumas (2-0) have advanced to the Gold Bracket in the Chino Tournament and prepare for their game against the host team on Wednesday at home. Game time is 3:15 pm.
