Jurupa Valley: Woman arrested for animal cruelty relating to cockfighting operation

JURUPA VALLEY - A Jurupa Valley woman was arrested in connection with operating a cockfighting operation at her home, a sheriff's sergeant said Sun., March 16.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, March 15, to the 5200 block of El Rivino Road where they detained about 50 people who had allegedly gathered to bet and watch the illegal Advertisement

cockfighting matches, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Ray Ricken said.

Jaquelyn Acosta, 40, who lives at the home, was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and other charges related to running the operation. Acosta's name did not appear in online jail records today.

Forty gamecocks were found at the home and were seized by county animal control officers for further investigation, Ricken said.
