LAKE ELSINORE - The Riverside County coroner today identified the passenger in a 2014 Honda CRV who was ejected from the vehicle when it went from left to right lanes across the northbound Corona (15) Freeway, struck another car and overturned into a dirt field.

The accident was reported at 12:40 p.m. Sunday on the northbound Corona Freeway north of Main Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer D. Lee.

The 28-year-old driver of the Honda CRV was in the far left lane moving at 85 mph when he allowed the vehicle to cross all lanes to the right, where it collided with the rear of a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by a 68-year-old woman, Lee said.

The CRV continued onto the dirt shoulder and overturned several times before coming to rest east of Camino Del Norte in a dirt field, the officer said.

Lake Elsinore: Motorist crashes through fence on northbound I-15 in fatal accident

At least one person was killed today when a grey sedan veered off the northbound I-15 freeway and crashed through a fence, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The vehicle went across all lanes of the freeway before crashing through the fence and going across two more lanes of traffic. It eventually stopped at a dirt field near Camino Del Norte in Lake Elsinore, according to the report.

Dispatchers received a 911 call regarding the accident by 12:43 p.m. and officers had issued a traffic alert at 12:50 p.m. because at least one other vehicle had been involved with the accident in some way.

It was not immediately clear why the driver veered through multiple lanes of traffic, nor was it clear who was killed in the single-vehicle crash.

This is a developing story. Keep checking in with the Valley News as they provide updates.

Saw this accident happen. My husband tried, but couldn't help the poor woman that was killed in this crash. Our hearts are broken for the family whose lives were shattered in an instant.

Perhaps he shouldn't have been "keeping up with traffic" at 85mph in a 70! My heart goes out to HER family.
