LAKE ELSINORE – Alberth Martinez shouldered the offensive load for the Storm on Thursday, April 3 driving in both runs in the team's 8-2 loss to the Lancaster JetHawks.

The JetHawks took the lead in the bottom of the first after Carlos Correa singled to drive in Tony Kemp. The 19-year old shortstop was drafted first overall in the 2012 First Year Player Draft and is the number-one ranked prospect in the Houston Astros organization.

Down 1-0, the Storm would tie the game in the top of the third. Corey Adamson worked a lead-off walk and subsequently stole second. After a JetHawks error moved Adamson to third, center fielder Alberth Martinez notched the first Storm hit of the season and collected his first Cal League RBI with a double.

The tie wouldn't last long however, and the same pair of JetHawks in Correra and Kemp would combine in identical fashion to retake the lead.

Despite the Lancaster lead, the Storm would load the bases in the top half of the fourth, but a ground ball off the bat of Adamson was turned for two and the Storm rally was cut short.

After adding two runs in the fifth, the JetHawks broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth. Three Storm errors, a wild pitch and a pair of base hits led to four Lancaster runs and widened their lead to six.

Matt Shepherd and Cody Hebner combined to retire six consecutive batters in the seventh and eighth, the only two times the JetHawks were set down in order all night. Yet despite their efforts the Storm bats stayed silent and the ‘Hawks secured their first victory of the season.

Correa finished with three hits and four RBIs. Joe Ross (0-1) was hung with the loss while Kyle Westwood (1-0) earned his first Advanced A victory by completing the final four innings for starter Vince Velasquez.
