Murrieta Valley improved its league record to 3-1 and jumped into a 3-way tie for first place in the Southwestern League with Temecula Valley and Great Oak. The Nighthawks are 10-5 overall this season.

The Pumas jumped out to a 2-run lead in the first only to have the Nighthawks tie it all up in the second inning. Murrieta Valley then jumped all over Chaparral relief pitcher Christian Bowers for three runs in the fourth to hand him the loss. The Pumas would score another run during their last at bat but the Nighthawks held on for the victory.

Kevin Padlo went 2-for 3 with a double for MVHS. Nicko Cottone was the winning pitcher for the Nighthawks.

Murrieta Valley will travel to Temecula Valley to take on the Golden Bears Thursday. Chaparral will play the Broncos at Vista Murrieta. Both games start at 3:30pm
