LAKE ELSINORE - An investigation was underway today into a shooting in Lake Elsinore residence that left a 34-year-old man seriously injured.

Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. John Monarrez said deputies were called to the 32000 block of Rome Hill Road about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

he was walking away," Monarrez said.

The wounded man gave "conflicting statements" about the shooter and where he went, the sergeant said. Deputies scoured the area but did not find anyone, he said.
