Issue 15, Volume 18.

MURRIETA - A man attempted to lure a Murrieta elementary school student into his car today, prompting calls to police, who believe the same person is responsible for similar encounters with children over the last month.

According to Murrieta police, a child heading to classes at Rail Ranch Elementary on Los Alamos Road around 8 a.m. was accosted by a man at the wheel of a dark-colored compact four-door vehicle, possibly a Nissan Versa.

"The suspect asked the student to get in his car," said Lt. Tony Conrad. "The student did the right thing by immediately running away Advertisement

from the suspect and reporting the incident to school authorities."

Investigators believe the same man has been involved in at least three previous encounters with students at Rail Ranch and Murrieta Mesa High School, beginning March 10.

"The police department is concerned about these incidents and is actively looking for the suspect," Conrad said. "Students and parents should be looking for any behavior on or around school campuses ... that is out of the ordinary."

A description of the suspect was not released.

Anyone with information was asked to call Sgt. Bob Anderson at (951) 461- 6317.
