Undaunted by their two game sweep by the Nighthawks last week, the Wolfpack came out Tuesday and jumped all over the Broncos and exploded for a big inning in the third to put the game away. Vista Murrieta pitching was coming off two consecutive 2-0 shutouts against Temecula Valley, one of the most devastating offenses in Southern California.

The Broncos scored two in the first inning off Great Oak starter sophomore Zack Noll. That was all the runs Vista Murrieta needed to win last week. The Wolfpack remained calm and composed. The Great Oak offense exploded for seven huge runs in the third and the Broncos never recovered.

Vista Murrieta scored once more in the bottom of the third and the Wolfpack added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh. Bronco pitcher JT McLellan was handed the loss.

The Wolfpack’s Austin Williams was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and RBI. Chandler Wagoner also had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI. Trey Endris had two hits and scored while Brad Wegman singled and also scored.

Coltin Gerhart hit a solo home run for the Broncos. Ryab Little had two hits while Ian Nowak and Hunter Tidwell had the other RBIs for Vista Murrieta.

The win pulls Great Oak back into a three way tie for first with Murrieta Valley and Temecula Valley. The Broncos fall to 4-4 in league and are in second place and still firmly in contention.

The two teams face off again on Thursday at Great Oak. Game time is 3:30pm
