The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks and Chaparral Pumas are both undefeated and tied for first place in the Southwestern league with a 5-0 record. The Nighthawks are coming off a 7-2 victory over Vista Murrieta Tuesday while the Pumas came from behind in the last inning to beat Great Oak 3-2.

  • CHS 3 - GOHS 2

The Pumas trailed 2-0 as they entered the bottom of the seventh inning when they exploded for three runs to beat the Wolfpack. Chaparral’s Nicole Johnson, Mariah Young and pinch runner Alexandra Rocha scored for the Pumsa. Lorena Ruiz and Cheyenne Balzer knocked in a run each.

  • MVHS 7 - VMHS 2

The Nighthawks scored three times in the third inning and another in the fourth. Murrieta Valley added three more runs in the top half of the seventh to lead 7-0. The Broncos came back in their final at bat to score two runs to avoid the shutout. Lacey Alderman picked up the win for MVHS and the Bronco’s Selina Ta’amillo got the loss.

Autumn Bishop went 4-for-5, scored twice and had an RBI for the Nighthawks. Stephanie Moreno had two hits scored twice also knocked in a run. Olivia Sanchez had three RBIs for MVHS. The Broncos Kylie Keller was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Sara Little also scored for VMHS and Jocelynn De La Cruz singled in a run.

  • TVHS 7 - MMHS 6

The Golden Bears rallied in the seventh for two runs to break a 5-5 tie to go ahead of Murrieta Mesa 7-5. Undauunted, the Rams battled back in their final at bat and would score another run but it was too little too late as they fell to Temecula Valley 7-6.

The loss drops the Rams to 0-5 and into last place in the Southwestern League. The Golden Bears are 1-4 and looking to get back on track. There are five more games remaining in Southwestern League play.
