Vista Murrieta senior pitcher JT McLellan was almost un-hittable Tuesday afternoon as he shut down the mighty Nighthawk offense and allowed only one hit as he shut outMurrieta Valley 1-0. It was a clutch win as the Broncos are back in the playoff race as the season winds down.

The Broncos had seven hits in the contest but scored just once in the fifth inning. It was all Vista Murrieta needed as Mclellan cruised past the Nighthawks in the final three innings for the win.

McLellan was the offensive star of the game as well. He was responsible for the lone Bronco score when he singled in teammate Jack Moberg in the fifth. Benny Blackwell had two hits for the Broncos.

The Victory pulls Vista Murrieta’s league record to 5-5 and in fourth place in the Southwestern League. Murrieta Valley falls to 6-4 and the Nighthawks find themselves in second place chasing league leading Temecula Valley. The Golden Bears defeated Murrieta Mesa on Tuesday and are 7-3 and solidly in front.

Great Oak is right behind the leaders and in third place with a record of 6-4. Chaparral and Murrieta Mesa are 3-7 in league play.

The Broncos, Nighthawks, Rams and Golden Bears have only five league games left to play. The Wolfpack and Pumas are down to their final four games.
