Great Oak clinched at least a tie for first place in the Southwestern League Tuesday. The Wolfpack fought off a feisty young Ram team looking to be the spoilers as the regular season winds to a close. Great Oak is 10-4 and is a game ahead of Vista Murrieta with one game to play.

Murrieta Valley and Temecula Valley are tied for third. The top three teams in the league earn automatic berths in the CIF SS Division 2 Playoffs.

The Wolpack scored a run in the first but the Rams came back to tie it in their half of the inning. It was all even when Great Oak’s Mitch Hayes homered in the fifth. The Wolfpack scored three unanswered runs in the inning and moved one game closer to capturing the League title.

Hayes went 2-for-3 with the home run and a double and drove in three runs for Great Oak. Eli Lingos had two hits and scored for the Wolfpack ,while Brandon Stewart singled and scored twice.

Great Oak will play their final regular season league game at home on Thursday. The Rams are looking to improve on their 3-11 league record and make things interesting on the last day of play in the Southwestern league.
