Murrieta Valley won its second consecutive Southwestern League Title and wrapped it up with a 5-0 win over the Golden Bears. The win was their 10th league victory in a row as the Nighthawks finished the regular season as undefeated league Champs.

Nighthawk senior Lacey Alderman pitched a one hit shutout to improve to 14-2 on the season. The Golden Bears got on base in the early innings but Alderman worked her way through the TemeculaValley lineup flawlessly.

Murrieta Valley finally got on the board in the third inning. The Nighthawks scored two runs on a solo home run by Autumn Bishop and an RBI double by Alderman.

Murrieta Valley struck again in the sixth with a two run home run by Bishop and a towering solo blast by Olivia Sanchez. Alderman had no trouble shutting down the Golden Bears in late innings and cruised the rest of the way.

"Winning the Southwestern League with a 10-0 record is great accomplishment for the team and the program" said Nighthawk coach Sean Parks. "I couldn’t be prouder of how they have played game in and game out. No matter who they were playing they found a way to win. The team was committed to competing in every game and it showed with them going 10-0".

"It is such a tough league and to win one league title is quite the feat, but to win two in a row lets you know that the team and players are doing things right" added Parks.

The Nighthawks will wait till Saturday to see where and who they play next when the CIF SS Playoff pairings are announced. Great Oak and Vista Murrieta will also be headed to the playoffs.

"We play in arguably the toughest CIF division in the state and there are great teams throughout the division" said Parks. "The team is excited to be playing and they are hungry to go farther than they did last year. We had a young team last season and made it into the second round. Most of the girls are back and they know what to expect once the playoffs start next week. The intensity gets ratcheted up and they will be ready to go. Anything can happen and they can compete with the best of them. It should be fun."
