Faulty equipment caused a blackout in a Moreno Valley neighborhood, but electric service was restored to the 57 customers in just over an hour.

The outage was first reported shortly after 8 a.m. on Pepper Street between Grant and Day streets, about 1-1/2 mile west of Interstate 215, Southern California Edison spokeswoman Lauren Bartlett said.

Power was restored by 9:13 a.m. The cause of the equipment failure was under investigation, Bartlett said.
