Riverside: Police arrest one motorist for drunken driving, another for pot possession at checkpoint

One motorist was arrested for alleged drunken driving during an overnight sobriety checkpoint officers set up in Riverside, a sergeant said today.

City of Riverside police officers began their six-hour operation at 6 p.m. Friday at Central Avenue, east of Riverside Drive. It ended at midnight.

of Riverside police Sgt. Skip Showalter said.

One driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI and one person was arrested for possession of marijuana, Showalter said.

Thirty-two citations were issued and 14 vehicles were impounded and towed, Showalter said.

A total of 21 motorists were cited for driving without a license or with a suspended license, the sergeant said.
