Vista Murrieta lost a one run heartbreaker Tuesday in Valencia as their season came to an end in round two of the 2014 Ford CIF SS Division 2 Championship Playoffs. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Broncos threatened but fell short as a very exciting season ended.

Trailing by three runs the Broncos fought back to score a run in the fourth and put another one across the plate in the sixth.

Pitcher JT McClellan started for Vista Murrieta and went 2 innings giving up all 4 runs and took the loss. Brandon Nelson came in and pitched 4 innings of scoreless relief in the losing effort.

The Broncos Ryan Lillie hit a home run and drove in two against the Tigers. Angel Ortiz had two hits and scored twice in the game for Vista Murrieta.

Lefty Matt Ruff picked up the victory for the Tigers. Phillip Bracamontes tripled and spearheaded the Valencia offensive attack. They will face Crescenta Valley in the next round on Friday.

The Broncos ended the 2014 season with a 20-8 record. Vista Murrieta finished in a tie for second place in the Southwestern League with Temecula Valley behind Champion Great Oak. The Southwestern League was recently recognized as the toughest High School Baseball League in the Nation by MaxPreps.

Great Oak and Temecula Valley advance to the Quarterfinals of the 2014 Ford CIF SS Division 2 Baseball Championship playoffs on Friday.
