GOHS 4 x 100m Relay Team Wins Masters With Fastest Time In State

The Great Oak 4 x 100m relay team of Jordan Lucas, Nick Fisher, Brandon Presley, and Damion Marshall ran a blazing fast 41.13 seconds race to win the event at CIF Masters held at Cerritos College on Friday, May 30, 2014. The 41.13 time is the fastest run in state of California this year.

GIRLS RESULTS:

Vista Murrieta's Michelle Norman finished 7th in the 100m dash (11.99). Broncos teammate Amanda Van Buren finished 9th in the 200m dash (24.63). The Vista Murrieta 4 x 100m relay also qualified with a second place finish and a time of 46.31. Norman also qualified in the long jump with a leap of 19-01.25, good enough for third and in the triple jump with a mark of 38-06.00 and a fourth place finish. Lovie Burleson 17-11.50 for a tenth place finish in the long jump. Yazmin Torres threw the discus 135-03 to earn 7th and a shot at State.

Great Oak distance runners finished in three of the top four spots in the 1600m run: #1 Haley Dorris (4:48.88); #2 Destiny Collins (4:48.01); and #4 Ashley Helbig (4:51.40). All three qualify for the State meet. Collins (#2 at 10:18.93) and Dorris (#4 at 10:27.84) also qualified in the 3200m run. Ciynamon Stephenson's triple jump mark of 38-03 was good enough for fifth, but one inch shy of qualifying.

Jessica Abalos from Murrieta Valley qualified for State with a pole vault of 11-09.00 and a fourth place finish. Vista Murrieta's Kelsey barnes finished tenth at 11-03, missing the qualifying mark by four inches.

Elsinore's Elena Lopez qualified in the shot put (4th, 43-07.25) but not in the discus throw (9th, 128-07).

BOYS RESULTS:

Michael Norman from Vista Murrieta (1st, 21.06) and Damion Marshall from Great Oak (6th, 21.60) both qualified for State in the 200m. they also both qualified in the 400m, 1st at 47.50 and 6th at 48.53, respectively.

Great Oak's Isaac Cortes finished 8th in the 800m at 1:55.81. Nicholas Doan finished 11th at 9:19.57 in the 3200m run. Andrew Lottig pole vaulted 14-08 for tenth place. Nick Fisher's 21-01.50 long jump placed him 11th and his triple jump of 41-08.50 got him 12th.

Heritage's Torrey Atkins finished sixth (14.18) in the 110m hurdles and will be going to State.

Chaparral's Nathaniel Williams high jumped 6-03 for a 16th place finish. Jedake Hill was 11th in the triple jump (42-05.50).

Great Oak's 4 x 400m team was 7.5 seconds off their seed time and finished ninth (3:24.87).

CJ Alumbre (Vista Murrieta), won the triple jump with a hop,skip and jump of 40-07.50.
