A motorist dozed off behind the wheel of a pickup truck, which crossed into opposing traffic and sideswiped two oncoming vehicles in Lake Elsinore, a sergeant said today.

Dispatchers received a call at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and sent sheriff's deputies to the corner of Riverside Drive and Collier Avenue.

Deputies learned the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado truck fell asleep while traveling south on Riverside Drive, and it crossed over the other side, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Chad Loeffler said.

silver Infiniti G20 sedan and a black Ford F150 pickup truck on the northbound side of Riverside Drive. The drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment, Loeffler said.

The driver's name was not disclosed, and it was not disclosed if the sleepy driver was cited or arrested. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have played a role in the incident, Loeffler said.

Riverside Drive was shut off to traffic between Collier Avenue to Gunnerson Street for more than two hours.
