Crash causes electrical outage in Murrieta

MURRIETA - A vehicle slammed into a utility pole today, triggering an electrical outage that blacked out more than 1,200 homes and businesses in Murrieta.

The outage was reported at 11:39 a.m. when the vehicle crashed at Menifee and Baxter roads in Menifee, Southern California Edison spokesman Robert Villegas said.

Initially, 1,290 customers west of the intersection lost service east of Interstate 215 between Gloriosa Place and San Sebastian Avenue, he said.

MURRIETA - A problem with Southern California Edison electrical equipment blacked out more than 1,200 homes and businesses in Murrieta today.

The outage reported at 11:39 a.m. affected an area between Gloriosa Place and San Sebastian Avenue, a residential area about 4 miles east of Interstate 215, according to SCE's website.

According to SCE, 1,290 accounts were affected, and the utility said it expected power to be restored by 8 p.m.
