Motor home ‘explodes’ in Nuevo, CHP says

NUEVO (CNS) - A fifth-wheel trailer ``exploded'' Thursday, Jan. 14 in the unincorporated Nuevo area of Riverside County near Hemet, and a nearby truck and structure also caught fire. A witness reported hearing a motor home-type vehicle explode prior to seeing black smoke, according to the California Highway Patrol. The non-injury explosion was reported at 9:16 a.m. in the 28000 block of Reservoir Avenue, near 13th Street. Riverside County Fire Department firefighters responded and encountered a travel-trailer, pickup, and an outbuilding ablaze. The fire was fully contained by 11 a.m. Fire officials later announced a 100-foot-by-100 foot pile of ``rubbish'' has also caught fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
