On Thursday, March 21, students from Great Oak High School’s fashion and design history class put on a Day & Night Fashion Show along with a Prom Expo. Under the direction of their teacher Mrs. Jean Brown, the executive board – which consisted of Justine Poulton, Nicole Rood, Tiana Love, Reagan Mackay, Arizza Luspian, and Gwyneth Sturdivant – planned the show.

The board spent seven months planning the show, deciding on what to use as the theme of the night and ensuring that every detail was accounted for. Their long hours paid off when the show finally came together and they got to watch the models walk down that runway.

“Seeing everything come together was great,” Justine Poulton, a board member, said. “It turned out much better than I thought it would! It was amazing.”

With the helpful contributions of clothing either made or bought specifically for the show from the student designers in the class, and hair and makeup done by Paul Mitchell, the board created a show split into three parts.

The first part was “day,” where student models strutted down the runway, wearing anything from simple dresses and flats to shorts and stilettos. The second portion of the show consisted of nighttime outfits. The models again made their way down the runway, showing off their outfits.

The final portion of the night was a Prom Exposition, with dresses donated from David’s Bridal and My Girlfriend’s Closet for the girls and tuxedos from Men’s Warehouse and Fryer Tux for the boys.

The girls walked down the runway with their escorts. They made the show unique by creating quirky poses to do along the way and entertaining the crowd as well as themselves.

From start to finish, the show was a great success.

“The best part would have to be just seeing everyone having fun at the show and knowing all the hard work that our fashion group did paid off!” Nicole Rood, a member of the executive board, said.
