Deputies on Friday arrested a 28-year-old woman suspected of leading them on a chase through Wildomar city streets in a Jeep that was stolen from Temecula, sheriff's officials say.

Kaitlynn Zimmerer was arrested on suspicion of receiving known stolen property and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in French Valley, jail records show. Bail was set at $10,000.

About 10:11 a.m. deputies in Wildomar went to the area of Walnut Street and Wood Lane after receiving a report that a 2016 black Jeep Wrangler in that area had been reported stolen from Temecula.

When deputies got there they found the Jeep driving south on Walnut Street toward Palomar Street and tried to stop it. They say that's when the driver of the Jeep took off at a high rate of speed to try to escape them, according to the release.

The chase wound through city streets, but had to be called off when the Jeep went off the road into a rural area, officials say.

A sheriff's helicopter was summoned and found the Jeep as well as a woman who appeared to be running away. The woman, Zimmerer, was detained and later booked in connection with theft and chase, according to officials.

Sheriff's officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department dispatch at 951-776-1099 or the Lake Elsinore station at 951-245-3300.
