Firefighters rescue injured hang glider in Lake Elsinore

Firefighters today rescued an injured hang glider from a hard-to-reach spot with the aid of a helicopter.

The injury was reported at 12:57 p.m. near Ortega Highway and Main Divide Road, in an unincorporated area east of Lake Elsinore in the Mount San Jacinto State Park, Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department said.

Firefighters hiked to the victim's location, about a mile from the roadway, and used a helicopter to take the hang glider to an awaiting ambulance, she said.

The victim was hospitalized with minor injuries.
