Veterans Day events planned in southwest Riverside County

It was the 11th day of the eleventh hour of the 11th month in 1918 when the armistice, a cessation of the world’s first war, was signed. Many American soldiers died fighting the cruel and bloody war in Europe.

The Armistice Day celebration of 1918 became a national holiday. On the same day in 1938, it became Veteran’s Day, and in the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, it became legally known as Veterans Day.
