Small blaze temporarily shutters Penfold's Cafe & Bakery in Temecula

A small fire in the walk-in cooler of a popular restaurant in Old Town Temecula has prompted the restaurant to close for the time being, a family member of the owner said.

The fire happened at Penfold's Cafe & Bakery shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, and was out a little more than a half an hour later, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department news release.

The fire was initially reported as being in the kitchen, with heavy smoke coming from the rear of the restaurant, but it was later said to just have been in the walk-in cooler. It was kept to there, according to th...
